The most prevalent Clothes Moth in the U.K. is the Tineola Bisselliella. The larvae of such Clothes Moth will damage a variety of garments, particularly those of natural origin, such as natural woolCarpets are also subject to attack and infestation. Warm, contained settings such as wardrobes, cupboards and airing cupboards also provide an ideal environment for the larvae to develop. The larvae often produce a silk web that is much larger than the larvae itself. Clothes Moth can be active all year round between the temperatures of 15-33℃.

Information On Our Clothes Moth Egg Killer Sachets:

What Are Trichogramma Wasps & How Can They Help?

Trichogramma are very small parasitic wasps, hard to spot with the naked eye, but identifiable when they are situated on the outside of the packaging. They will seek out Clothes moth eggs and lay their own eggs inside them, parasitising the Clothes Moth eggs. They are harmless to humans and animals and remain only for as long as there are Clothes Moth eggs present.

When Should I Use The Sachets?

Clothes Moths can be active all year round at indoor temperatures, and so too can these wasps. The wasps also require temperatures between 15-35℃.

How Do I Apply The Sachets?

The Trichogramma pupae are supplied in a paper sachet. Place the sachet on a horizontal surface at the site of infestation: i.e. on top of your clothing. Please be careful not to block the emergence hole. The wasps will emerge from inside the sachet and seek out the moth eggs.

As the small adult wasps tend to fly upwards, place the sachet low.

Please do not open the sachets since the sachets are supplied with an emergence hole. Please also do not place objects on top of the sachets as you may damage the pupae inside.

How Many Sachets Do I Need?

From each sachet 6000 parasitic wasps will emerge over a period of three weeks. The sachet is recommended to cover an area of 25m2.

We advise you to check pest numbers after application and consider applying more Trichogramma if numbers of Clothes moth remain high. For ongoing control, it is advised to replace the sachets every four weeks.

The Telegraph: 'The tiny bug that could be the answer to your moth problem'(featuring an interview with Dragonfli founder, Julian Ives)(06/12/23)

Can I Store The Trichogramma Wasps?

As the wasps will hatch at ambient temperatures it is recommended that you do not store the sachets. It is best to distribute them as soon as they arrive, placing them in the areas where clothes are active or suspected.

Can I Use Clothes Moth Traps Alongside Trichogramma Sachets?

Yes, but do not release the wasps close to the traps. They will not be attracted to the traps but may fly in by accident and get stuck on the glue, so place the sachets away from where the traps are. We would still encourage the use of Clothes Moth traps, as they catch male moths and aid the control of Clothes moths as part of an integrated pest control program.

Vacuuming & Insecticides

If you have Clothes Moth emerging from carpets, avoid hoovering entirely for 7-10 days after introduction of our Moth Egg Killer Sachets and reduce hoovering to a minimum for 3 weeks after application of sachet.

Please ensure no chemical treatments have been used prior to the introduction of Trichogramma. If you have used insecticides recently and are unsure how long the residues will remain, feel free to contact us.

Information On Our Clothes Moth Pheromone Traps:

How Does The Trap Help Combat Clothes Moth Infestations?

Our Clothes Moth Pheromone Trap offers a safe and natural way to trap and catch the male adult Clothes Moth, preventing them from mating with the females, and reducing the overall Clothes Moth population. A pheromone lure is placed on the sticky surface inside the trap which gives off a sex pheromone that attracts the male Clothes Moth. The moths are then caught on the sticky surface inside the trap where they soon die. The traps can catch high numbers of Clothes Moths which results in reduced moth mating, egg laying, and infestation levels.

The pheromone lure that Dragonfli supplies will attract and catch the predominant UK Clothes Moth species; the Common Clothes Moth (Tineola bisselliella).

Our trap is highly effective, insecticide free and releases no odours.

How Do I Set Up The Trap?

Our traps are very simple to assemble. Firstly, open the foil sachet and remove the pheromone lure. Next, place this inside lure the trap. It does not matter which way round the lure goes. Finally, remove the covering paper from the sticky trap and push the trap together.

Where Should I Place The Traps?

Place your trap in areas such as; wardrobeslarge drawerscupboards, or near materials that require protection and have suffered previous damage. If you have natural carpets, these also provide ideal egg laying sites for the Clothes Moth, so you may also wish to place a trap in such an area. The traps can be hung up or placed on a flat surface.

How Many Traps Do I Need?

One trap is sufficient for one particular infestation area. To cover larger areas we suggest one trap every 25m2.

When Should I Use The Traps?

Clothes Moths can be active all year round at indoor temperatures, so set up the trap whenever you wish to control your infestation.

When Will I Need To Replace My Trap?

To keep the trap active, replace the first pheromone lure after 6 weeks, and use the second lure provided. The trap is supplied with two lures to give it a minimum of 12 weeks catching time.

You can purchase replacement Clothes Moth lures here.

Can I Store The Pheromone Lures?

If lures are to be stored and not used upon receipt, you may store them in a fridge or freezer.

Effective duo in the fight against clothes and carpet moths

I have been using both the pheromone traps and the trichogramma sachets for sometime now and together find them very effective at reducing the moth infestation in my carpets. Month by month the number of moths caught in the traps is reducing as is the number of moths emerging from the carpets. It feels like the battle is being won - though very slowly - so I will continue using the traps and sachets to keep on top of the problem. Patience is very much needed - it's not a quick fix.

Early days but hopefully the wraps are doing their thing. Will re-order as I wanted a solution without the use of nasty chemicals.

    Very successful so far

I have a fairly large house spread over two floors and was concerned that if I just targeted the hot spots such as where wool carpets shad been attacked I might miss some future breeding moths which had wandered elsewhere in the house. So I order 12 sachets plus some pheromone traps. In the past I’ve blasted moths with insect spray when they’ve appeared and also sprayed the areas where I saw them, so it took a great deal of willpower not to do the same once I’d released the wasps. At one point I saw 7 moths in one day in my bedroom - the worst it’s ever been. However I kept my nerve, and just used the giant thumb of doom to dispatch the ones I found. It’s now 6 weeks since I started the treatment and I haven’t seen a moth anywhere for a couple of days. I am going to re-order more sachets since I would like to try to completely eradicate the problem. Overall I’m very happy with the results.

Clothes moth egg sachets - a good buy!

We purchased the moth egg sachets for the carpet moth in our home. We've caught dozens of moths and there is visibly less damage done to our carpets. A very good investment!
