What Are Clothes Moths?

The most prevalent Clothes Moth in the U.K. is the Tineola Bisselliella. The larvae of such Clothes Moth will damage a variety of garments, particularly those of natural origin, such as natural wool. Carpets are also subject to attack and infestation. Warm, contained settings such as wardrobes, cupboards and airing cupboards also provide an ideal environment for the larvae to develop. The larvae often produce a silk web that is much larger than the larvae itself. Clothes Moth can be active all year round between the temperatures of 15-33℃.

The Benefits Of A Trichogramma Evanescens Subscription

A subscription of Trichogramma introductions is the best way of achieving results from our Clothes Moth Egg Killer Sachets. A subscription ensures populations of Trichogramma are maintained to counter Clothes Moth populations before damage to clothes or carpets is sustained, and helps ensure Trichogramma are present as soon as the Clothes Moth appear. If there are already very high numbers of Clothes Moth present before Trichogramma introductions have started, control of the pest can take a longer period of time.

The despatch of sachets for such subcriptions will be arranged at 4 weekly intervals.

What Are Trichogramma Wasps & How Can They Help?

Trichogramma are very small parasitic wasps, hard to spot with the naked eye, but identifiable when they are situated on the outside of the packaging. They will seek out Clothes moth eggs and lay their own eggs inside them, parasitising the Clothes Moth eggs. They are harmless to humans and animals and remain only for as long as there are Clothes Moth eggs present.

New Clothes Moth Egg Killer Sachets Release More Wasps & Kill More Moths

Our brand new Clothes Moth Egg Killer Sachets have been designed for improved and longer lasting control of Clothes moth and other moth eggs.

Clothes Moth Egg Killer is supplied in a sachet containing the eggs of the tiny parasitic wasp: Trichogramma evanescens. Theses eggs hatch from the sachet over a period of 2-4 weeks releasing a continual supply of adult parasitic wasps into the surrounding area. The sachet has been developed with a focus on timed emergence with 2000 wasps emerging each weekIt will usually take 2-3 says for the first adults to emerge.

The longer lasting hatch rate increases the ability of the parasitic wasps to locate more moth eggs, and at that the correct time for when they can be successfully parasitised and killed. The Clothes Moth Egg Killer Sachets also release 3x the amount of parasitic wasps than the previously sold Trichogramma Cards.

Sachets Ideal For Application In Wardrobes & Drawers, Or On Carpets & Rugs

Recent research has shown that the Trichogramma parasitic wasps like to fly upwards when they emerge from the sachets. For this reason the sachet has been designed without a hook so that it can be laid flat in the bottom of a wardrobe, placed in a drawer, or placed on a carpet or rug. The wasps will walk out of the sachets first and spread out horizontally before they fly, so this also makes them ideal for application to carpets and rugs.

The sachets are supplied with a release hole on the top of the sachet, which is marked and already open. There is no need to open or cut the sachet.

The Benefits Of Clothes Moth Egg Killer Sachets

  • Up to 6,000 Trichogramma wasps per sachet
  • Trichogramma wasps released gradually from the sachets for up to three weeks.
  • Introductions required only once every four weeks.
  • Supplied as UK native species: Trichogramma evanescens

When Should I Use The Sachets?

Clothes Moths can be active all year round at indoor temperatures, and so too can these wasps. The trichogramma wasps require temperatures between 15-35℃ and will be able to combat re-emerging infestations of the Clothes Moth larvae throughout the year.

How Do I Apply The Sachets?

The Trichogramma pupae are supplied in a paper sachet. Place the sachet on a horizontal surface at the site of infestation: i.e. on top of your clothing. Please be careful not to block the emergence hole. The wasps will emerge from inside the sachet and seek out the moth eggs.

As the small adult wasps tend to fly upwards, place the sachet low.

Please do not open the sachets since the sachets are supplied with an emergence hole. Please also do not place objects on top of the sachets as you may damage the pupae inside.

Please also ensure no chemical treatments have been used at 2 weeks prior to the introduction of Trichogramma.

How Many Sachets Do I Need?

From each sachet 6000 parasitic wasps will emerge over a period of three weeks. The sachet is recommended to cover an area of 25m2.

We advise you to check pest numbers after application and consider applying more Trichogramma if numbers of Clothes moth remain high. For ongoing control, it is advised to replace the sachets every 4 weeks.

Can I Store The Trichogramma Wasps?

As the wasps will hatch at ambient temperatures it is recommended that you do not store these sachets. It is best to use them as soon as they arrive, opening in situ and ordering repeat sachets fresh when needed.

Vacuuming

If you have Clothes Moth emerging from carpets, avoid hoovering entirely for 7-10 days after introduction of our Moth Egg Killer Sachets and reduce hoovering to a minimum for 3 weeks after application of sachet.

Establish Complete Clothes Moth Control By Also Using Our Traps

It is also recommended that you first introduce our adult Clothes Moth Traps to assist in controlling infestations. The traps will contribute to reducing the number of adult male moths and prevent some moths from breeding. The traps also provide a visual indication of infestation levels.

Please do not release the Trichogramma wasps close to the traps. They will not be attracted to the traps but may fly in by accident and get stuck on the glue. Place the sachets away from where you have set up your traps.

Egg Killer Sachets & Pheromone traps

At one time we were suffering from a near infestation of clothes moths. After first experimenting with the traps we came across Dragonfly egg killer wasps. They have made a tremendous difference and the number of cloths moths has reduced markedly. We definitely recommend this product.
