Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner Pheromone Lure

Use Our Highly Effective Pheromone Lure In Our Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner Traps

This highly attractive pheromone lure has been designed specifically to attract adult male Horse Chestnut Leaf Miners into traps.

This helps reduce the male numbers of the moth and effectively stops their reproduction; breaking the life cycle and giving complete control over the pest.

How Do I Set Up The Lures Inside The Traps?

Simply remove the lure from the foil sachet and place it in the cage at the top of the trap. These lures can be used for both our standard size and large sized Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner traps.

What Distance Will A Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner Lure Cover?

The trap and lure will cover 1 tree.

Can I Store The Lure?

If lures are to be stored and not used upon receipt, you may store them in a fridge or freezer.

When Should I Use The Lure In My Traps?

Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner traps should be hung from your trees from April onwards to effectively reduce the pest population and protect your Horse Chestnut trees.

When Will I Need To Replace The Lure?

These lures will last for 6 weeks, after which time they should be replaced.

More information on how to treat Horse Chestnut Leaf Miners can be found on the Large Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner Trap and Standard Sized Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner Trap product instructions.

Looks like it’s working

First year of using, and although doesn’t get rid of all of the moths (would be 5 stars), it looks like it’s helping to reduce the impact on the two trees we have, I’ll keep using, and think I’ve got enough supplies to last this year and start of next. Only issue is getting them up high enough and into the canopy!

Pheromone trap does catch well

I think this is our 3rd year using this trap.
Although pheromone trap catches lots of leaf miner, our horse chestnut tree is still looking very much infected.
Until I find other solution( tree and environment friendly) I think I
will keep using this trap.

Very helpful

We have two Horse Chestnuts and pheromone traps in each tree. There has been a marked improvement in the leaf damage since using the traps, the damage is not as significant as it was without the traps.

Not all lures are the same

Some of these lures seem to be less effective than others in the same batch. I change the lures them regularly after 4 weeks and with some there is a noticeable difference.

Hi Richard,

Many thanks for ordering with us and for your feedback.

That's very interesting to hear that you've had varying results with our lures. This may have something to do with the availability of present pests at given points in the season.

If the leafminers are predominantly in their larval or pupal form, for instance, they will consequently not be attracted to the trap. If a generation of adult male moths do then develop, the lure which you have presently active in your trap is more likely to have increased catches than the previous.

It's worth remembering that the lure will also only attract adult male leafminer moths and any females will not be enticed by the pheromone.

It's good to hear you have been regularly replacing the lures every 4 weeks, when the respective pheromone loses its potency, as this will ensure your trap is active whenever the next generation of male leafminer moths are flying; enabling you to reduce further pest mating and the development of more harmful larvae.

I hope this information is useful but if you need any further assistance please don't hesitate to get in touch again and we'd be more than happy to help.

Kind regards,

Julian Ives [Director, Dragonfli]
