I live in a wood area populated by elderly horse chestnut trees which suffered badly only last year from the ravages of the pesky moth. A number of residents decided to trial various interventions including using your traps and collecting leaf litter and incinerating as much as was possible, weather dependent. A few people were very skeptical about the efficacy of the traps so we have introduced a coded system to identify trapping schedule. Most people have been horrified with the numbers of these horrid little things which accumulate in the traps. When we put the traps up again this year, about a mont h too late , sadly, I videoed the clouds of moths which were circulating my partner once he opened up the pheromone packet even though he was actually INSIDE the garage with the door semi closed! So yes most people are sold and on board. I don't think for one minute that this an overnight sensation, but with consistent effort over the years it is bound to have a noticeable effect along with the other measures I have mentioned. It also makes one feel that you are doing something rather than sitting back and accepting the eventual loss of our mighty trees. I did notice that The "candles" on the tree in our garden are noticeably smaller this year which is another indication of a tree under stress. I gave 4 stars for this review for the following reasons
1 Excellent delivery time and enclosed advice and instructions
2 The traps are easy to assemble.
3. Unused pheromone packets can be effectively stored in the fridge.
The loss of a star is because the string for hanging the trap can easily be dislodged, especially in a high wind. The trap then falls to the ground and is easily damaged. Bearing in mind the weight of the water required to drown these moths, I think a more substantial means of hanging the trap would be a huge improvement . But all in all a recommended purchase.
