The Dragonfli Codling Moth Nematodes & Trap Bundle provides the perfect solution to Codling Moth Caterpillar and adult Codling Moth infestations. Our brilliant Codling Moth Killer Nematodes will kill the caterpillar stage of the pest, while the Codling Moth Pheromone Trap will catch and kill the male adult moths.
The bundle provides a perfect natural solution to your Codling Moth Caterpillar & adult Codling Moth infestations and will help you to combat larger, or multiple, areas of infestations.
The Codling Moth Nematodes & Trap Bundle includes:
Codling Moth (Cydia pomonella) lay eggs that develop into larvae. These larvae will burrow into a range of fruit including; Apples, Pears, Quinces and Walnuts. The larvae and caterpillars will feed inside the fruit, making tunnels, and leave excrement within the produce.
1. Firstly, use our Codling Moth Traps:
The first step in protecting your plants is to set up your Codling Moth Trap. This will assist you in catching, monitoring and killing male Codling Moths. Once these adult moths are observed, it is likely that the Codling Moth Caterpillars will follow a few weeks later. By pre-empting their activity, and reducing moth numbers, you will have a greater chance of limiting a severe infestation. Moth mating and egg laying will also be reduced as a result. One trap and lure will cover 16-20 trees.
2. Next, apply our Codling Moth Killer Nematodes:
Nematodes can be used as an effective form of biological control against the caterpillars. The most successful species of nematode for Codling Moth control is the Steinernema species, which is contained within our Codling Moth Killer Nematode pack. Apply these nematodes as soon as small caterpillars are observed and spray directly onto the caterpillar pests.
You may wish to consider supplementing your bundle with our Nema Super Sprayer if you are seeking an easier method of applying your nematodes. The Nema Super Sprayer can be found here.
Apply Codling Moth Killer Nematodes to infected trees, and their soil base, from April and mid-September to kill the Codling Moth larvae while they are on the lower branches and tree trunk. Also apply the nematodes to the base of the tree in the soil.
Codling Moth traps should be hung from your trees from May onwards. Codling Moth begin to appear when fruit trees are about to bloom. This is the time to ensure your codling moth traps are active with a fresh pheromone lure inserted.
