Amblyseius andersoni predators will consume the Whitefly eggs, whilst the Encarsia formosa parasitic wasps kill the larvae and the Eco-Sticky Traps catch the adult flies. This ensures that the pest life cycle is broken and infestations are cleared.
What's more, this bundle provides you with an overall discount to buying each Whitefly control product separately!
The Whitefly Killer Bundle includes:
Our Whitefly Killer Bundle will provide you with all the necessary products to ensure that your plants are protected from Whiteflies and benefit from healthy and continual growth.
All of our biological controls are safe to humans, pets and wildlife.
Our Amblyseius andersoni sachets are ideal for use against a range of insect pests, including the eggs and larvae of Whitefly. This cold tolerant predatory mite will emerge from the sachets over a period of 4 weeks to feed on these two stages of the Whitefly life cycle. The predators feed by piercing the prey and sucking out their body contents. You will normally spot them on the lower surface of the leaves.
Encarsia formosa are natural parasites of Whitefly. Most of the Encarsia population are female and will lay eggs inside Whitefly larvae, which kills the pest and turns it into a parasitised mummy. This mummy is black in colour and will contain a developing Encarsia wasp. The wasp will then hatch from the mummy before starting to locate other Whitefly larvae to lay eggs in and kill. The wasps leave black scale on the underside of leaves, providing evidence of successful kills.
Our Yellow Eco Sticky Insect Traps are ideal for catching and monitoring levels of flying insect pests, such as Fungus Fly. Black grids are printed on the yellow sticky trap so the number of insects caught can easily be counted and compared with previous catches. These traps provide a highly useful method of identifying whether the pest population is increasing or declining. The traps are biodegradable and not made from plastic.
Apply your Whitefly Killer Bundle when damage to plants is observed or when Whitefly activity has been observed.
Please bear in mind, however, that the minimum temperature for optimum use of Amblyseius andersoni predators is 10℃,and slightly higher, at 17℃, for the Encarsia formosa.
Simply hang the Amblyseius andersoni sachets in a sheltered spot on the plant, out of direct sunlight There is already a hole in the sachet for the predators to exit from, so the sachets do not need opening. They will emerge for 4 weeks before they need replacing.
To apply the Encarsia cards, bend and tear off the strips of the card, opposite the mounting hole, and suspend the cards on the plants you wish to treat for Whitefly infestation. This should be approximately 75cm under the plant head. Ensure the cards avoid direct sunlight and do not directly touch the Encarsia pupae. All the waspswill have emerged after a week, so each card can be removed and replaced after a week.
To apply the Eco Sticky Traps, simply peel off the release paper, hook the tie through the holes a the top of the trap, and hang near the plants you wish to protect.
More detailed instructions can also be found on the individual product pages.
Both the Amblyseius andersoni and Encarsia formosa cards need to applied as soon as they have been received and are not suitable for storage.
Sticky Traps can be stored indefinitely in cool, dry conditions.
This bundle contains living creatures that can be affected by any chemical pesticides used within the previous few weeks. As a general guide, refrain from using Natural Pyrethrum or SB Plant Invigorator 2 days prior to use. Other chemical insecticides can have long lasting residues that could harm the insects for much longer periods. Refrain from using these products or check with Dragonfli for information on the effect of these products on our biological controls.
