Apple Ermine Moths(Yponomeuta malinellus) lay eggs that develop into larvae. The larvae are a yellowish-grey, often located in silk webbing. This webbing may also contain cocoons. The adult moths are small, with a wingspan of approximately 16-20mm, and white with black dots.
Apple Ermine Moth larvae create silk webbing on apple trees and strip the leaves from the trees. If the pest is left untreated, there may be complete defoliation of branches.
Use our Ermine Moth Pheromone Traps to monitor and catch male Ermine moths. This provides an early warning of activity and helps reduce egg laying, as the male moths caught cannot mate with females.
Another form of natural pest control that can used in conjunction with the traps are our Caterpillar Killer Nematodes. Apply these nematodes directly onto the visible larvae. The nematodes kill the pests on contact so please ensure they are not simply sprayed onto the webbing; they need to be able to enter the larvae in order to be effective.
