Androlis M contains predatory mites for effective biological control of red bird mite, often known as Chicken mite or Cosmopolitan nest mite. Androlis M contains the predatory mite Androlaelaps casalis, a natural predator of red bird mite on wild birds, which can now be applied to poultry or exotic birds in the garden, home or aviaries.

Red bird mite [ Dermanyssus gallinae ] causes significant stress to infected birds and anemia, which  sometimes leads to death. Birds show signs of nervousness and even cannibalism. Chickens/hens  and other birds infected with Red bird mite also see a drop in egg laying. Red bird mite are mainly found close to resting places , where birds are vulnerable. The red mite has quite a fast life cycle and goes from egg to adult in 15 days in suitable temperatures. Chemical control is difficult and un-pleasant to use with live birds and can give short lived results. Chemical treatments are also liable to be less effective as the more they are used, the more the red mites become resistant to them. Red bird mites are not able to become resistant to being eaten by a predatory mite!

Androlis M is supplied in a shaker bottle of 3000 mites with a metal applicator clip, to attach to the coop for easy distribution of the predators. (Androlis can also be applied in small heaps near or in the bird nests or in areas where red mite infestations are obvious). The predatory mites then exit the bottle, via the lid, to search out and kill the red mites. Androlis should be repeated every 4-8 weeks depending on the level of infestation.

The metal applicator clips can be nailed or screwed to the inside of the coop wall, so that the Androlis M bottles can be easily lifted out and replaced when needed and not disturbed during the cleaning out of the coop. If predators are applied to the floor and the litter is removed on a regular basis then some predators will also be removed, this is when using the applicator clip and bottle is a good idea to reduce this.

The Androlis M red lid is left on but the central red section on the lid is pushed out and removed, this enables the predators to emerge from the bottle. All the predators will have been released after 10-14 days.

Please allow up to 7 days for delivery, as Androlis mites are only harvested once a week.
