Androlis M contains predatory mites for effective biological control of red bird mite, often known as Chicken mite or Cosmopolitan nest mite.

Androlis M contains the predatory mite Androlaelaps casalis, a natural predator of red bird mite on wild birds, which can now be applied to poultry or exotic birds in the garden, home or aviaries.

Red bird mite [ Dermanyssus gallinae ] causes significant stress to infected birds and anemia, which  sometimes leads to death. Birds show signs of nervousness and even cannibalism. Chickens/hens  and other birds infected with Red bird mite also see a drop in egg laying. Red bird mite are mainly found close to resting places , where birds are vulnerable.

The red mite has quite a fast life cycle and goes from egg to adult in 15 days in suitable temperatures. Chemical control is difficult and un-pleasant to use with live birds and can give short lived results. Chemical treatments are also liable to be less effective as the more they are used, the more the red mites become resistant to them. Red bird mites are not able to become resistant to being eaten by a predatory mite!

Androlis can be applied in small heaps near or in the bird nests or in areas where red mite infestations are obvious. Androlis can also be poured into special tubes [ Prevorus tubes ] and attached to roosting spots and ledges. The predatory mites then exit the tubes to search out and kill the red mites. Androlis should be repeated every 4-8 weeks depending on the level of infestation. One bottle of Androlis M will fill up to 5 Prevorus tubes.

Please allow up to 7 days for delivery, as Androlis mites are only harvested once a week.

Spider Mite Control

Red Spider Mite is one of those pests that simply refuses to be controlled at times. Luckily we have a few great options to hammer down pest populations and stay on top of the problem.

Spider Mite Killer – Phytoseiulus persimilis predators are fantastic for use when red spider mite is present in large numbers. This hungry predator will munch through up to 20 red spider mites per day. Available in a number of sizes to suit your treatment area.

Spider Mite Killer Sachets- Amblyseius andersoni predators are excellent when used as a preventative or long term control method for spider mites. Utilising the ability to feed on pollen even when prey is sparse these predators can survive for longer allowing introduction before infestations can build up. These predators feed on eggs, young and adult spider mites making them ideal to break pest life cycles long term.
