APHIDIUS 500 contains mummies and adults of the parasitic wasp; Aphidius colemani. This tiny parasitoid parasitises several species of aphids including;Melon or cotton aphid [ Aphis gossypii ] , Peach potato aphid [Myzus persicae]  and tobaco aphid [Myzus nicotianae ]. The female Aphidius parasitise aphids by injecting their egg inside them. This eventualy kills the aphid and turns the aphid into a mummy,  which goes brown. A new Aphidius will then chew a hole out of the aphid mummy releasing them into the surrounding area to look for and attack more aphids.

APHIDIUS is most effective when used against low numbers of aphids, if there are large numbers of aphids present, it maybe required to introduce weekly for a number of weeks and/or introduce some aphid predators such as the predatory midge; Aphidoletes aphidimyza or Lacwing larvae [Chrysoperla carnea ]. Banker plant systems can also be used to establish Aphidius early on cereal aphids.

  • Remove the lid of the vial/bottle in the area where the aphids are present
  • Gently tap the bottle to release hatched adults
  • Hang or place the vial/bottle next or on infested plants to enable the aphidius mummies to hatch from the bottle . Leave in place for 3-4 days.
  • Use as soon as possible after receipt. Before use keep in dark at 6-8.c.

Last chance to treat Leatherjacket larvae

This short, fat leatherjacket  larvae does a lot of damage to lawns from August through to the end of October. The recent warm weather does enable later applications but should not be delayed to long now.

Once you have evidence of this grub under your grass, it is time to apply nematodes.

Available in many sizes -  100m2, 500m2 , these nematodes will seek out and destroy Leatherjacket larvae within 14 days of use. Can be applied by watering can or hose end nozzle.

This is a natural solution for leatherjackets in lawns. Leatherjackets are the larvae of crane flies, otherwise known as Daddy-long-Legs. The majority of the eggs are laid late summer and develop into Leatherjacket larvae in the late summer- early autumn.

Stop these horrible pests ruining your lawn by using a biological control.
