Bats are in need of habitat as many of their roosting places have been lost over recent years. This oak/larch/acacia double chambered box provides a habitat for many bats. It will fit into any garden, woodland or on a house wall site. It is made from solid, high quality, durable FSC timber which provides longevity and excellent insulation. Predators are prevented access to the entrance slot. The hinged front door provides access for inspection and cleaning.

Many Bats change roosts dependant on weather conditions and seasons.

Bat boxes can benefit by being put in a group of  two or three boxes on a tree , this enables bats to choose the box with the temperature range it prefers.

Bat boxes should be placed 4-5m above the ground. Try to choose sites sheltered from the wind and a site that is exposed to the sun for part of the day. If the Bat box is on a building, it should be as close to the eaves as possible. If the Bat box is in a rural or garden area, try to site the Bat box near hedges or a tree line, as some bats use a tree line or hedgerow for navigation.

Last chance to treat Leatherjacket larvae

This short, fat leatherjacket  larvae does a lot of damage to lawns from August through to the end of October. The recent warm weather does enable later applications but should not be delayed to long now.

Once you have evidence of this grub under your grass, it is time to apply nematodes.

Available in many sizes -  100m2, 500m2 , these nematodes will seek out and destroy Leatherjacket larvae within 14 days of use. Can be applied by watering can or hose end nozzle.

This is a natural solution for leatherjackets in lawns. Leatherjackets are the larvae of crane flies, otherwise known as Daddy-long-Legs. The majority of the eggs are laid late summer and develop into Leatherjacket larvae in the late summer- early autumn.

Stop these horrible pests ruining your lawn by using a biological control.
