Aphid parasite 250 contains 250 Aphidius colemani parasitic wasps of aphids and greenfly. These tiny beneficial insects lay their eggs in aphids. The aphid then dies and turns into a parasitised mummy. This is brown in colour and contains a developing Aphidius wasp. This grows and eats its way out of the aphid punching a small hole through the mummy to emerge. This process takes about 2 weeks in a suitable environment . The newly emerged Aphidius will then start to search for other aphids to lay eggs and kill.. This is a classical form of biological control at work.

  • Aphid parasite 250 is more effective in a controlled environment like greenhouses
  • Introduce when temperatures over 13.c
  • Repeat introductions are required  if treating over a season
  • Aphid colonies may require the introduction of Aphid Kill Blister packs
  • If there are multiple species of aphids , consider Aphiscout
  • Do not use insecticides when introducing natural enemies like Aphidius
  • Remove sticky traps when introducing, as the wasps get caught on them

Last chance to treat Leatherjacket larvae

This short, fat leatherjacket  larvae does a lot of damage to lawns from August through to the end of October. The recent warm weather does enable later applications but should not be delayed to long now.

Once you have evidence of this grub under your grass, it is time to apply nematodes.

Available in many sizes -  100m2, 500m2 , these nematodes will seek out and destroy Leatherjacket larvae within 14 days of use. Can be applied by watering can or hose end nozzle.

This is a natural solution for leatherjackets in lawns. Leatherjackets are the larvae of crane flies, otherwise known as Daddy-long-Legs. The majority of the eggs are laid late summer and develop into Leatherjacket larvae in the late summer- early autumn.

Stop these horrible pests ruining your lawn by using a biological control.
