Spider mite killer sachets contain the predatory mite ; Amblyseius andersoni. This predatory mite can be used to control red spider mite and other mite pests and is active at much lower temperatures than other predatory mites like Phytoseiulus persimilis. This means spider mite control can be started much earlier than with other predatory mites. Amblyseius andersoni can also feed on pollen and other mites, which enables it to be introduced before spider mite is present. Spider mite killer sachets are mini breeding sites for the predators releasing many predators onto plants over several weeks, one sachet can remain active for up to four weeks. Each sachet contains approximately 250 predators but many more than this will be released from the sachet over its lifespan. Spider mite killer sachets can be used on many different plants and crops and are active from 6.c to 40.c.

  • Hang on plant stems, branch,  twig or leaf petiole
  • Introduce before or early after spider mites are observed
  • Sachets are already open on receipt and will start releasing predators once hung on plants
  • Do not use insecticides once predators are released or just prior to release

In very warm conditions where there are large infestations of spider mite, it might be required to also introduce Spider mite predators ; Phytoseiulus persimilis, which are better suited to controlling large numbers of spider mite in warm conditions but are not active at low temperatures and can only be introduced when spider mite is present.

The Amblyseius andersoni predators in Spider mite killer sachets have been shown to be effective on; red spider mite, broad mite and cyclamen mite and Tomato russet mite.

Last chance to treat Leatherjacket larvae

This short, fat leatherjacket  larvae does a lot of damage to lawns from August through to the end of October. The recent warm weather does enable later applications but should not be delayed to long now.

Once you have evidence of this grub under your grass, it is time to apply nematodes.

Available in many sizes -  100m2, 500m2 , these nematodes will seek out and destroy Leatherjacket larvae within 14 days of use. Can be applied by watering can or hose end nozzle.

This is a natural solution for leatherjackets in lawns. Leatherjackets are the larvae of crane flies, otherwise known as Daddy-long-Legs. The majority of the eggs are laid late summer and develop into Leatherjacket larvae in the late summer- early autumn.
