VINE WEEVIL KILLER contains a nematode species suited to the higher soil temperatures of the summer and autumn months.The nematode species is ; Heterorhabditis bacteriophora. This species will kill vine weevil larvae and some of the vine weevil pupae unlike other nematode species. The nematodes penetrate their hosts releasing a bacterium that kills them. The body of the vine weevil larvae or grub is then used by the nematodes to reproduce in. Vine weevil killer nematodes are harmless to humans, pets and wildlife.

Application of Vine weevil Killer nematodes:

The nematodes are supplied in a carrier material that is mixed with water. Once the solution is mixed up the nematodes are watered into pots and containers or open borders and flower beds. They can be applied by watering can, knapsack sprayer or some hose end sprayers. Nematodes will only be effective if they can move through the soil or compost, so make sure the treated area is watered before and after application of nematodes. Try to apply in the evening or on a cloudy day as sunlight and heat can kill the nematodes. Keep stirring the nematode solution once mixed up to prevent settling and remove fine fiters or roses from sprayers or watering cans to prevent nematode blockage.

It is recommended that VINE WEEVIL KILLER nematodes are applied between August and the end of October or when soil temperatures are above 12.c for at least several hours a day.

VINE WEEVIL KILLER nematodes provide;

  • Effective control of vine weevil larvae
  • Easy to use, diluted in watering can or sprayer and watered into compost or soil
  • Safe to the user and the environment
  • Provide Biological or natural control of vine weevil larvae, vine weevil larvae are not able to build up resistance to attack by nematodes

One VINE WEEVIL KILLER contains 50 million nematodes. Enough to treat an area of 100 square metres and enough concentrate, when diluted, to make up to 20 watering cans of solution. It is possible that new Vine weevil adults will arrive in the garden each year, so it is recommended that Vine weevil Killer is applied every year.

Once you have evidence of this grub under your grass, it is time to apply nematodes.

Available in many sizes -  100m2, 500m2 , these nematodes will seek out and destroy Leatherjacket larvae within 14 days of use. Can be applied by watering can or hose end nozzle.
