Sticky traps are used in greenhouse situations to catch or monitor for the presence of different flying plant pests.  Most often yellow sticky traps are used.  However, research has shown that different plant pests are more attracted to different coloured traps.  Whilst whiteflies and aphids prefer yellow, thrips are more attracted to blue and soil dwelling pests, such as fungus gnats, prefer white.

TRAPACK provides you with 10 yellow, 10 blue and 10 white sticky traps.  That's 30 traps in total for just £15.00

Different pest species also often infest at different heights within their host plants - Whiteflies are usually on the top young leaves, thrips on older leaves and flowers, whilst fungus gnats are around the soil surface.

By positioning the different coloured traps at different heights within a greenhouse crop, they will be more effective at catching the relevant pests.

Traps can either be hung on strings or attached to plant canes.

Last chance to treat Leatherjacket larvae

This short, fat leatherjacket  larvae does a lot of damage to lawns from August through to the end of October. The recent warm weather does enable later applications but should not be delayed to long now.

Once you have evidence of this grub under your grass, it is time to apply nematodes.

Available in many sizes -  100m2, 500m2 , these nematodes will seek out and destroy Leatherjacket larvae within 14 days of use. Can be applied by watering can or hose end nozzle.

This is a natural solution for leatherjackets in lawns. Leatherjackets are the larvae of crane flies, otherwise known as Daddy-long-Legs. The majority of the eggs are laid late summer and develop into Leatherjacket larvae in the late summer- early autumn.
